Cast-A-Way Toys Figures

The Phantom figures were produced by Cast-A-Way Toys in the USA between 2008 thur till 2009.


Cast-A-Way Toys was founded by David Lee and Jason Schiermeyer in the USA. Drawing inspiration from the ‘Mego’ figures, Cast-A-Way aimed to provide greater realism and detail in their range of toy products. Their super poseable figures featured high-quality accessories and were adorned with well-sewn, elaborate body suits accompanied by accessories such as weaponry. The figures were packaged with eye-catching colorful and vibrant artistic graphic backing cards and removable plastic clamshell bubble covers.

After producing a successful line of monster, pirate, and cowboy figures, Cast-A-Way Toys ventured into the Golden Age superheroes with characters such as The Fighting Yank and The Black Terror. Partnering with King Features.


The Phantom figure was released in 2008, designed in the classic Mego style, is an 8-inch action figure featuring an impeccably tailored, deep purple fabric suit. The pack includes black plastic/rubber boots, a high-quality rubber holster with functional latches and an engraved skull buckle. The figure is equipped with two M1911 pistols and is packaged in a removable clamshell blister pack. Two punch holes are located at the top of the pack for hanging on retails stores.

Also released in 2008 by Cast-A-Way Toys are a figure range centered around Captain Action and Dr. Eville. Two figures were released which came with interchangeable faces, one of Captain Action who changes into the Phantom and one of Dr. Eville who changes in Redbeard a second of Redbeard. The interchangeable faces feature is similar to the original Captain Action figures released by the Ideal Toy Corporation in the USA in 1966.

In 2009, the Phantom figure line also included a ‘Kit Walker’ figure plus an ‘Achmed, Arch-Enemy of The Phantom’ figure. The Kit Walker figure is as the Phantom is seen in comic strip stories when in disguise, seen wearing a trench coat, hat and dark glasses.

On the 17th of April 2009, Cast-A-Way Toys attended the FX International Toy Show. Amongst the array of figures they presented at the Toy Show were 4 limited edition Phantom figures, which saw the Phantom dressed in a mix of different costume colors; grey, green, red and purple. The purple costume version of the Phantom figure which was available at the Toy Show was different to the version above as it included a Phantom Skull ring.
