The Captain Action Card Game was produced by General Foods Corp. in the USA in 1967. The card game was a promotional give-away product with Kool-Pops, which were produced by General Foods Kitchen in the USA.
Kool-Pops were a frozen food item, described on the packaging as ‘Pasteurized Pop Bars’, sold in a box of 8 with a variety of flavors found in the one box, with the box measuring 5.75” x 7.5”. A promotion was offered whereby if 3 Kool-Pops box-tops are mailed to an address in Kankakee, Illinois, USA, with a cut-out coupon found at the rear of the box, then a set of Captain Action Card Game would be sent.

A set of the Captain Action Card Game would arrive in the mail. The card game wasn’t placed in any packaging when mailed, with the address label glued to the back of the Captain Action Card Game box containing the playing cards which measures 2.5” x 3.5”. The top lid of the box was held closed with a piece of tape.

Found within the Captain Action Card Game box are 32 playing cards, numbered from 1 to 8, with 4 differently colored background subsets containing a letter from A to D, creating 32 uniquely numbered playing cards. Found on the face of the cards are 4 repetitive images of Captain America, Captain Action, Buck Rogers, Spider Man, Flash Gordon, The Phantom, Gun And Sword and Silver Streak. Each card has rounded corners with a smooth lacquered finish.

Also found within the Captain Action Card Game box are 3 cards with game instructions for the 3 varying games recommended to be played, titled ‘Follow The Leader’, ‘Captain Action’ and ‘House Of Heroes’, designed for 2 players or more. One ‘Captain Action’ card is also found within the set, with a profile image of Captain Action printed on the card.
