The Phantom Fan Club

The Phantom Fan Club was established in 1964 in USA.

The Phantom Fan Club was initially advertised in Gold Key’s Phantom comic number 5 in November, 1963. It asked readers to write to the publisher if they wish to establish a Phantom Fan Club chapter in their respective town. It also requested that a list of at least 10 Phantom fans be sent in with the application.

In Gold Key edition number 7, May 1964, the publisher informs it’s readers that The Phantom Fan Club Charters are almost ready and will be in the mail soon. It also again makes a request to readers to make contact with the publisher if they wish to start their own The Phantom Fan Club chapter and to provide a list of 10 Phantom fans.

Once the various Phantom Fan Club chapters were approved, a pack was sent to the applicant, containing 10 ‘Charter Certificates’ (measuring 14.25 inches x 11.5 inches) and 10 purple and white metal tab-pins.
