The Phantom Puzzle Book

The Phantom Puzzle Book was published by World Distributors (Manchester) Limited in the United Kingdom in 1967. The puzzle book contains a large array of activities, games, puzzles and coloring-in pages. The book is fully licensed by King Features Syndicate.


‘World Distributors Ltd’ was founded by three brothers Alfred, John, and Sydney Pemberton in Manchester, United Kingdom in 1945. The company was a publisher and distributor of comics and magazines for 54 years until finally selling to the Egmont Group in 1999. World Distributors is mostly recognized for their hardback annuals, based on popular film, television, animation, and comic themes. The annuals generally contained comics (more often reprints of American titles) mixed with illustrated text stories, word games, and puzzles. 


The Phantom Puzzle Book contains 64 black and white pages. It was printed in Leeds, UK by Petty and Sons Limited. The same year its sister publishing division released the coveted 8 issue set of World Adventure Library Phantom comic books. The front cover art is replicated on the back cover, illustrated by Walt Howarth. The front and back cover can be seen below featuring the Phantom, Devil, Hero and the Skull Cave.
