Os Arquivos Secretos Da RGE

Os Arquivos Secretos Da RGE (which translates to The Secret Archives of the RGE) is a book written by Roberto Guedes and published by Editora Noir in Brazil in 2021.

The book is published in a paperback format, contains 1oo black and white pages and measures 21cm x 14cm, with text found in the book in Portuguese. The front and back covers can be seen below, with an image of the Phantom printed on the front cover.

The back cover translated from Portugese to English provides us with a brief description of what information is found within the book:

Before becoming the all-powerful communications tycoon in Brazil, Roberto Marinho made his fortune with the comics he published in the anthologies Gibi and Globo Juvenil. In the 1950s, he founded Rio Gráfica e Editora, or RGE, which for many years dominated the market with titles such as Fantasma, Flash Gordon, Mandrake, Cavaleiro Negro, Recruta Zero and Capitão Marvel.

It is from this same publisher that magazines emerged that marked the era and enchanted generations of readers of all ages: Kripta, Sítio do Picapau Amarelo, Dico, HB Festival, Os Flintstones, Spider-Man, Almanac Marvel, Tex, Zagor, Carga Pesada, Gibi Weekly, Sacarrolha…

While all the big rivals suffered from the country’s economic turmoil and, little by little, closed their doors, RGE was transformed into Editora Globo. And so it remains today, as the only giant still active in the publishing industry. The entire trajectory of the publisher is told in detail in this book, highlighting a revealing profile of its founder, with many backstage curiosities and exclusive testimonials from its former employees.

An investigative and, at the same time, exciting journalistic work.
