Le Due Lune (which translates to The Two Moons) book series was published by Franco Panini S.p.A. Editore in Bologna, Italy from 1992 thru till 1996. The story book series contains approximately 15 editions in the ‘Avventura’ series, with a variety of characters found in the series, including the Phantom, Flash Gordon, Rip Kirby and locally created characters.

The Phantom appears in the series in two editions, numbers 4 and 9, with each edition containing short stories written by Stephen Bandera. These softcover books contain 80 black and white pages measuring 19cm x 13cm with Italian text. The books are licensed by King Features Syndicate.

Edition number 4 is titled ‘Phantom: Il Cimitero Degli Elefanti’ (which translates to Phantom: The Elephants’ Graveyard) published in 1993.

Edition number 9 is titled ‘Phantom: L’ombra Che Cammina’ (which translates to Phantom: The Walking Shadow) published in 1994.

The books not only contain their respective story in text form, but several pages within the books contain full page illustrations in black and white, aiding the reader to form a clear picture in their mind of the story line. A sample of internal pages can be seen below.
