The Hungarian publisher Bubi Bolt has announced to its followers on social media that it will be attending the Budapest Comic Con.
Held across two days, the Budapest Comic Con will be held on the 21st and 22nd of March 2026 at HUNGEXPO in Budapest, Hungary. Amongst the publications they’ll have available at the convention is a new Phantom comic book.
We’re notified in the social media post that the comic book will contain classic daily Phantom comic strip stories written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Sy Barry, originally published in US newspapers from 1963 thru to 1966. The comic book will contain 276 pages in Hungarian text.
A prerecorded Sy Barry interview will also be shown on both days of the convention. The information provided on the interview reads:
Sy Barry is an American comics artist, who became known as one of the most influential Phantom artists of all time. In 1961, he took over drawing for The Phantom newspaper and for more than 30 years – until his retirement in 1994 – he made a significant difference in the visual world of the character, reaching more than a hundred million readers worldwide.
Sy Barry is also the co-creator of Krypto, Superman’s iconic dog: in 1955 he designed the final appearance of the character.
During his career, he has received numerous prestigious accolades, among them the 2005 Inkpot Award and the National Cartoonists Society’s 2025, Elzie Segar Award, which recognized his life work and outstanding contribution to the art of comics.
At Budapest Comic Con, the 98-year-old legend will appear in a prerecorded interview, which will be broadcasted to the audience on both days.

We’re notified by Bubi Bolt in the social media post that the Phantom comic book will be available exclusively for purchase at the Budapest Comic Con, then available for purchase via their website in April 2026.
