Flash Gordon #16 By Zauberstern Comics Featuring The Phantom

The Germany-based publisher Zauberstern Comics has recently released the latest edition in their Flash Gordon comic book series, with the Phantom featuring both on the front cover and within the comic book.

Flash Gordon edition number 16, due for release this month (27th of January 2026) contains reprints of parts of the Kings Watch storyline which was previously published by Dynamite Entertainment in the US in 2013. The all original art and comic strip story is a crossover event where the three heroes, The Phantom, Flash Gordon and Mandrake the Magician, team up to face an alien menace and the Cult of the Cobra.

Flash Gordon edition number 16 contains 100 full-color pages in a 21cm x 29.5cm format, written in German. This edition contains the conclusion of the Kings Watch miniseries, the final three parts, amongst other Flash Gordon comic strip adventures.

The Kings Watch story currently being published by Zauberstern Comics is written by Jeff Parker and illustrated by Marc Laming. The cover art was originally published by Dynamite Entertainment on the cover of Kings Watch comic book edition number 3, illustrated by Marc Laming and Jordan Boyd.

The front cover of Flash Gordon edition number 16, which can be seen below, highlights the three main heroes found in the miniseries: Flash Gordon stands on the left with a sword and gun in hand, The Phantom is poised aggressively in the center ready for action, and Mandrake the Magician conjuring glowing blue energy shields in the foreground.

The above edition continues on from Zauberstern Comics’ previous edition within their Flash Gordon series, which contained the first two parts of the Kings Watch miniseries, running over five editions when originally released by Dynamite Entertainment in the US. Edition number 15 by Zauberstern Comics also featured the Phantom on both the front cover and within the comic book, which can be seen below.

Flash Gordon edition number 16 is yet to be listed on the Zauberstern Comics website, which can be found HERE.
