The Phantom 2040: A New Shadow Webcomic Concludes For 2025

The Phantom 2040: A New Shadow, a webcomic series currently under production by Comics Kingdom in the United States, has reached its conclusion for the year 2025 and is scheduled to resume in 2026.

First launching on the 24th of September 2025, the webcomic series is an updated take on the original Phantom 2040 animated series which was originally released in 1994. This all original new series is written by Alex Segura and Michael Moreci with art by George Kambadais and John Amor and edited by Alex Garcia is designed to be read online (released weekly on Fridays) on the Comics Kingdom website, the online digital comics platform owned by King Features Syndicate.

The plot of The Phantom 2040: A New Shadow:

In a world scarred by climate collapse and fractured nations, Megacorporations operate from behind fortified steel walls, while the last remaining rainforest, the Ghost Jungle, teeters on the brink of destruction. Amidst this chaos, a billionaire named Charles Tyrus emerges, claiming to be the rightful heir to the Phantom’s legacy. He publicly flaunts the Phantom’s costume, a move that draws the reluctant attention of Carlos Osorio. Driven by a sense of duty rather than a desire for fame, Carlos steps forward to challenge Tyrus.

This single, defiant act transforms Carlos into the new Ghost Who Walks. His decision to confront Tyrus, despite being reckless, is the catalyst that sparks a new legend. It is the moment he accepts his destiny and takes up the mantle of the Phantom, becoming the last line of defense for a world in desperate need of a hero.

Ghost Jungle – The Phantom races to Walker’s Table, meanwhile Carlos and childhood friend Melinda reminisce about the innocence of childhood.
Heir Apparent – Charles Tyrus reveals an unbelievable secret to the world.
Stolen Legacy – Tyrus relays the legacy of Christopher Walker, the Phantom, and his plans for bringing the legendary hero back.
Unmasked – Carlos faces the decision to take up the mantle of the Phantom.
Borderlands – A reflection on Carlos’ past, and the decision on whether to take up the mantle is made.
The Phantom We Need – Melinda is recognized as having been with Carlos just before the Phantom suit was stolen, prompting a chase from the scene of the crime.
Wasteland Justice – Carlos dons the outfit of the Phantom and faces down robot agents of the Zero Corporation amidst a crowd of onlookers.
