Editoriale Cosmo Launches Phantom Classics In Softcover

Publisher Editoriale Cosmo, located in Italy, have released a comic book which features Phantom comic strip stories illustrated by artist Sy Barry.

The comic book will consist of 192 black and white pages presented in Italian text. It’s part of the ‘CLASSICS OF US COMICS‘ series produced by Editoriale Cosmo, which also features Mandrake the Magician and Secret Agent X-9. This newly issued comic book is a reprint of the edition released by Editoriale Cosmo in 2024; however, this previous edition was in hardcover landscape format, whereas the forthcoming version available for pre-order will be published in a softcover portrait format comic book.

The five comic strip stories found within the comic book are all written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Sy Barry. The stories featured are reprints of newspaper comic strips originally published from 1961 thru till 1963. We see this Phantom comic book listed in a social media post by Editoriale Cosmo, amongst a variety of other titles due for release in October 2025.

Editoriale Cosmo describe the Phantom comic book on their website as:

For all lovers of classic American comics, here comes a true gem, previously seen in Italy only in old, dusty editions from the 1960s and never reprinted. A truly unique opportunity for longtime fans and completists to get their hands on virtually unknown material, previously only available in fanzines. You’ll find two years of strips drawn by a master American artist: Sy Barry!

The front cover features an image of the Phantom and Diana as can be seen below, an illustration by Sy Barry. The top of the front cover also notes ‘Le Strisce Quotidiane Del 1961/1963‘, which translates to ‘The Daily Strips of 1961/1963‘.
