Currently available for purchase is a Defenders of the Earth trade paperback graphic novel, published by the USA-based publisher Mad Cave Studios.

Defenders of the Earth – Volume 2: Ghosts Of The Past contains 112 full color pages measuring 17cm x 26cm. The publication collects the last 4 parts of the Defenders of the Earth comic book series produced by Mad Cave Studios, an 8 edition series which was published on a monthly basis which commenced in August 2024. The Phantom, Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician, and Lothar unite in a reimagining of the classic animated series, Defenders of the Earth.

The front cover of the second trade paperback graphic novel in the Defenders of the Earth series is illustrated by Jim Calafiore (as shown on the left). The story is written by Dan DiDio and illustrated by Jim Calafiore, Nuno Plati, and Russell Mark Olson. The work is colored by Juancho Velez and lettered by Carlos M. Mangual.

The description seen on the advertisement reads:

To the world’s population, Kro-tan’s arrival was a godsend. Mongo’s technology was a quick cure for a ravaged Earth, and people were eager for any new technology he provided. However, as his influence spread, so did his desire to recreate Earth in Mongo’s image for him to rule. Dependence on Kro-Tan’s technologies made people compliant and easy to subjugate. Some even welcomed it. Those who didn’t disappeared, and by the time our heroes noticed, it was too late.

This second volume follows the first edition titled Defenders of the Earth – Volume 1: A World Divided, seen below, which was released on the 25th of February 2025.
