New Legacy Series Volumes By Frew Publications – Super Yank Comics

Frew Publications, based in Australia, have announced the release of two new comic book Volumes which reprint the full series of Super Yank comic books.

Super Yank comic books were originally published by Frew Publications commencing in November 1950 and were published on a monthly basis, running from issue 1 to 19 (however issue 7 was never printed or released). Each issue contained 24 pages, with 7 to 13 pages dedicated to the Phantom per edition.

The central comic character was Catman in the series, with the Phantom playing as a backup character, along with Halar the Cave-Man and Planetman. The Phantom was featured on most front covers in the series, not present on issue 1 and issue 6. Additionally, issue 1 was published without a Phantom comic strip. The series came to an end in May 1952.

The full set of original Super Yank comic books can be seen below.

Frew Publications has announce the release of the series in two Volumes as part of their ‘Legacy Series.’ Volume 1 will encompass the initial nine editions, featuring a cover illustration by Chris Wahl, while Volume 2 will comprise the remaining nine editions from the series, with a cover illustrated by Glenn Lumsden.

Both Volumes can be seen below, with each edition containing 216 colour and black and white pages.

An advertisement for the Volumes has appeared online, which can be seen below.

The newly released Legacy Series: Super Yank Comics Volumes have not yet been displayed on the Frew Publications website; however, they are expected to be available for listing in the forthcoming days. The website can be accessed HERE
