An advertisement appeared in the recently released comic book by Mad Cave Studios on Free Comic Book Day (3rd of May 2025), showcases a new Phantom comic series.
The advertisement is by Comics Kingdom, the online digital comics platform owned by King Features, the license holder of the Phantom. The advertisement notifies us that a new Phantom comic series will be launching soon featuring Phantom 2040. The title of this series is ‘Phantom 2040: A New Shadow’.

Phantom 2040 was a French-American animated series, based on the Phantom and was produced by Hearst Corporation and Minos S.A. in France. The central character of the series is the 24th Phantom. It aired on televisions from the 18th of September, 1994 thru to the 3rd of March, 1996.
A multitude of collectibles inspired by the Phantom 2040 animated series was also released during that period, including a comic book series published by Marvel Comics comprising of four editions, which can be seen below.

Comics Kingdom have also advertised this new comic series on their website (featuring a different design to that appearing in the comic book). The advertisement can be seen below illustrated by John Amor with the Phantom standing atop a futuristic city. The advertisement reads ‘A City On The Brink, A Shadow Reborn, Discover Phantom 2040: A New Shadow, Only On Comics Kingdom’.

The advertisement found on the Comics Kingdom website is part of an accouchement post, we’re not only provided with information on this new series, but also on the creators behind it. It reads:
Coming this summer, EXCLUSIVELY to Comics Kingdom is The Phantom 2040: A New Shadow, another fantastic “toon” style vertical comic. Crafted by the incredible creative team of Alex Segura (Secret Identity, Dick Tracy, Mara Llave), Michael Moreci (Burning Fields, Dick Tracy, Star Wars), and John Amor (Urban Animal), this exciting new series reintroduces the Phantom legend for a futuristic era, blending action, mystery, and heart-stopping visuals in an epic tale sure to captivate readers both old and new.
Initial assumptions can be made that the series will be featured on the Comics Kingdom website, to be viewed and read in a digital format. As can be seen above, launch is noted as the Summer of 2025, which in the USA is from June thru till August.
