Dolmen Editorial, based in Spain, has announced the next edition of its El Hombre Enmascarado album series.
Edition number 18 in the series will contain daily newspaper strip stories initially published from 1946 thru till 1948, classic Phantom stories written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Wilson McCoy. The hardcover album will contain 200 black and white pages in landscape format and measures 28cm x 21cm, with text within the album printed in Spanish.
The front cover can be seen above, with the cover image illustrated by Wilson McCoy taken from a comic strip panel. We also see the title, El Hombre Enmascarado – Los Piratas Del “Vesta” on the front cover, which translates to The Masked Man – The Pirates of the Vesta a daily Phantom story first appearing in newspapers in 1947.
The description found on Dolmen Editorial’s website for the comic book reads:
The Masked Man puts aside his inherited vigilante duties to hesitate like a clumsy lover over his relationship with Diana Palmer. These are the book’s funniest moments: Diana’s mother’s animosity toward the hero, the complicity of the bachelor Uncle Dave, the romantic entanglements that become absurdly complicated when what is supposed to be a mere coincidence leads the Phantom to confront a fearsome band of pirates, Diana’s stubbornness, the umpteenth suitor abandoned at the altar.
And it is then, balancing humor (don’t miss the comments of the foot pirates or the smugglers of the “Devil’s Highway”) when the masked man emerges with force, terrifying the villains and confronting them, sowing confusion among their ranks.
A sample of internal pages found within the album can be seen below.

El Hombre Enmascarado – Los Piratas Del “Vesta” is due for release in April 2025.
