Earlier this month, images of the new Defenders of the Earth comic book series by Mad Cave Studios started to appear online.

Mad Cave Studios, based in the US, have now listed 2 of the 3 variant covers of edition number 1 on their website for pre-order.

The first edition is due for release on the 14th of August 2024, a series scheduled to contain 8 editions, with a new edition due for release on a monthly basis. The pre-order advertisement describe the series as:

Flash Gordon, The Phantom, Mandrake the Magician and Lothar are united again in this reimagining of the classic animated series, Defenders of the Earth. Picking up with characters and storylines from the original series, Flash confronts Ming in a final battle, only to find that even greater threats await him as his teammates as they each must confront ghosts of their past to protect their families and future.

Of the 3 varying cover designs for edition number 1 (all 3 can be seen HERE), only variant covers A & B are currently being offered for pre-order by Mad Cave Studios. Cover 1A (seen below left) is illustrated by Jim Calafiore and cover 1B (seen below right) is illustrated by Djordje Djokovic. The story is written by Dan DiDio.

The pre-order listing also notified us that the series will be sold via a number of online stores, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, GlobalComix and Simon & Schuster.
