Pyynikin Brewing Company, located in Tampere, Finland have released a range of beer featuring the Phantom on the can.

Titled as ‘Mustanaamio Cover Art Tribute’, 3 different can designs have been produced featuring comic book cover illustrations of the Phantom under the local title of the Phantom, ‘Mustanaamio’ which translates to English as ‘The Black Mask‘.

Each of the Cover Art Tribute cans also note which Mustanaamio comic book the illustration has featured on. These 3 comic books were all published in Finland with all illustrations completed by Swedish comic book cover artist Rolf Gohs. Below, from left to right, the comic books are the 1985 Annual Album, Mustanaamio comic book number 1 published in 1976 and Mustanaamio comic book number 26 published in 1981.

This series follows the release of a set of 4 Mustanaamio Golden Ale beer cans produced by Maku Brewing back in June 2023, also in Finland, which all featured artwork by Sy Barry. This beer can range can be seen below, or read more about this range HERE

Although the Pyynikin Brewing Company is a Finnish based craft beer brewer, the Mustanaamio beer is manufactured in Haljala, Estonia. The Mustanaamio Cover Art Tribute beer cans will be larger in size to the range produced by Maku Brewing and will contain Light Lager at 4.5% alcohol. They’ll be exclusively sold in retail stores and online in Finland only.
