Dolmen Editorial, based in Spain, has announced the next edition of its El Hombre Enmascarado album series.
Edition number 17 in the series will contain daily newspaper strip stories initially published from 1944 thru till 1946. Stories are written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Wilson McCoy.
The black and white hardcover album will contain 208 pages in landscape format and measures 28cm x 21cm. Text within the album is published in Spanish.
The front cover can be seen above, with the cover image illustrated by Wilson McCoy taken from a comic strip panel. We also see the title, ‘El Hombre Enmascarado – El Dios Del Lago’ on the front cover, which translates to ‘Lago the Lake God‘ a daily Phantom story first appearing in newspapers in 1945.
The description found on Dolmen Editorial’s website reads:
With the Phantom drawn by Wilson McCoy we are going to enjoy the most characteristic years of the series. They are stories that perfectly combine adventure and humor, the everyday and the incredible.
The legend of the Masked Man still has a lot to explore and add to its folklore. We have already met the Devil dog and here we are finally introduced to the fast horse Hero. In the future, the good mark of the Phantom or the wonderful discovery of the Jungle Patrol await us.
And all told with the naturalness and apparent lack of complications of an artist who has not been vindicated enough.
A sample of internal pages found within the album can be seen below.

El Hombre Enmascarado – El Dios Del Lago is due for release in January 2024.
