The Norwegian publisher Egmont Kids Media Nordic have announced the release of the 2023 Fantomet Annual Album.
The Annual Album is published in full color in landscape format containing Norwegian text with cover art completed by Sam Klein. Online advertisements detail the contents as:
This year’s album contains three Phantom stories. “Demon’s Island” is a daily strip by Falk and Sy Barry and is about famous scientists and artists who suddenly die. But then there are cries for help from the “deceased”, and the Phantom becomes interested. The tracks lead him to a mysterious island. The classic Sunday story drawn by McCoy about not particularly friendly visitors from outer space has not previously been published in Norwegian. Nor is it the recent Sunday story about a small, curious detective who ends up on a plane with some shady types. Fortunately, as usual, the Phantom is not too far away.
The Annual Album will contain 3 Phantom comic strip stories:
- The Little Detective Who Disappeared – A Sunday newspaper story released in 2018, written by Tony DePaul and illustrated by Jeff Weigel.
- Demon’s Island (actual titled is The Fence) – A Daily newspaper story released in 1971, written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Sy Barry.
- When The Phantom Saved The Earth (actual title is The Horned Star Demons) – A Sunday newspaper story released in 1955, written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Wilson McCoy.
No information is available as yet as to the page count. Based on previous years editions, the Annual Album is traditionally published with approximately 68 pages.
The Fantomet Annual Album 2023 is due for release on the 3rd of November 2023.
