The French based publisher Editions Dante have made available for pre-order a new Phantom comic book titled ‘Fantome L’Ombre Oui Marche…‘.
The Omnibus style book will contain 468 pages and measure 21cm x 29.7cm. The front cover posted on the Editions Dante website can be seen above, an illustration by Jim Aparo first published on the cover of Phantom comic book number 38 by Charlton in the USA in 1970.
The pre-order advertisement tells us that the Omnibus comic book is the first of a series, reprinting comic strip stories originally published in comic books by Gold Key/King Comics/Charlton in the USA from 1962 thru till 1977. This first edition reprints Charlton comic book number 30 thru to number 40.
A portion of the description provided by Editions Dante notes:
The first volume of the Charlton years features cover art by Frank Mclaughlin and Jim Aparo, interior illustrations by Don Perlin, Jim Aparo and Bill Lignante, and stories by Dick Wood and Jim Aparo. The Charlton comics version is the grandfather of costumed heroes, the ghost who walks, is up for pre-order.
As the Omnibus will be released in France, an assumption can be made that the comic strip stories have been translated from English to French, and that internal pages will be published in full color, as per the original USA comic books.
A firm release date isn’t noted on the advertisement, only that the Omnibus will be released in 2023.
