Ray Moore Phantom Comic Strip Art For Sale

Currently open for bidding on the Heritage Auctions website, we see two original Ray Moore Phantom comic strip art for sale.


The first Sunday comic strip is date the 13th of July, 1941 (seen above). It features the Lee Falk Phantom story, ‘The Return of the Sky Band‘. As noted on the Heritage Auctions website, it comes from the Bobby G. Murphy collection.

Measuring 28″ x 18″ from edge-to-edge, the ink over graphite on Bristol board contains 8 separate panels, with the Phantom featuring a total of 3 times. The Lot number is 97484.

The listing also notes that the comic strip board was folded horizontally when it was originally posted by Ray Moore to King Features Syndicate.

The second Sunday comic strip is date the 22nd of August, 1948. It features the Lee Falk Phantom story, ‘The Phantom Trophy‘.

Measuring 26.5″ x 18″ from edge-to-edge, the ink over graphite on two sheets of conjoined Bristol boards contain 8 separate panels (including the title panel), with the Phantom featuring twice. The Lot number is 97485.

Original Golden and Silver Age Phantom comic strip art from this period are not only hard to source, but highly collectable and sought after by collectors, mainly due to the simple fact that not many examples have survived, plus those that have survived rarely appear on the open market for sale.
